ABOUT
Peter and Raelene Moynihan opened the Mount Gravatt Bookshop in April 1988.
Being a teacher, Peter wanted to encourage people to read at your own pace and read what you WANTED to read and not what you HAD to read. Cindy Tumes started working for the Moynihans in 1995 (feels like a century ago) as her former profession was not what she wanted to do for the rest of her life (ie Childcare).
With Peter's sad passing in 2012, Cindy decided to take the opportunity to takeover the business and she hasn't looked back.
The shop has grown in size over time (becoming one of the well known go to places for your reading needs in Brisbane) and so has the number of secondhand or pre-loved books that can be found in the shop. So upon visiting please ensure that you allocate enough time to browse the well stocked shelves.
Most of Cindy's regular customers would know that she loves a good chat (of course with her cup of tea in hand) and recommending books is what she enjoys. She loves nothing better than to introduce new readers and non-readers to stories that they will jump into.
"Please know you are always welcome in our front door to browse until your heart is content, ask me about new stock or even ask me to find that book you have been unable to find."
